| Adult Therapy Rita provides manual therapy techniques (meaning the therapist uses their hands only) on a one to one basis at her Healing Gate office. She believes in quality, personalized care and empowering her clients with strategies to optimize the healing process and maximize independence. Therapy sessions generally last one hour. Rita began her career in 1990 as an occupational therapist (O.T.) working with adults in a medical setting (see Qualifications for more details). Prior to her career as an O.T., she worked as a massage therapist, specializing in issues such as sports injuries and chronic pain. Rita is an on-going, avid student of the Jones Institute, which teaches the manual therapy technique Strain and Counterstrain (SCS). This is a highly effective, extremely gentle, non-forceful technique for use with the pain patient (see The Jones Institute - About Us for a more detailed description). In addition to SCS, Rita uses a blend of other manual therapy techniques such as triggerpoint work, CranioSacral therapy and retrograde massage. With this rich background working with a variety of individuals, Rita is able to use an eclectic approach in sessions with her clients, to optimize the healing process and assisting in the reduction of pain. |
